INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer issued the following statement today following the conclusion of the 2018 legislative session:
"Hoosiers have been at the center of this year's legislative session, with a people-focused approach that's delivering on promises to help save lives and provide greater economic opportunity for people across the state.
“Through a legislative session that worked on complex problems, Governor Eric Holcomb and legislators focused on the biggest issues we're facing today. Our leaders at the Statehouse passed legislation that will transform and accelerate the development of our workforce, creating easier access to critical job training programs that will meet the needs and demands of Hoosier employees and employers today and into the future. This ensures that all Hoosiers, regardless of their stage in life, will have access to training that provides a clear pathway to filling good, high-wage jobs -- a big victory for all Hoosiers.
"Governor Holcomb and legislators also continued their focus on attacking the drug epidemic from multiple fronts. The results of this session will provide Hoosiers with more and closer treatment options and will drive the collection of better data to give us additional insight into this crisis and help us fight it in the best and most efficient ways possible.
"The accomplishments from this legislative session are great for Hoosiers, but as Indiana now leads the nation in so many ways, there is always more that we’re working to deliver for Hoosiers. With the strong leadership of Governor Holcomb and our Republican leadership in the legislature, I have no doubt that this Republican team of purpose will keep delivering results for Hoosiers."
