Hupfer Named General Counsel of RNC
Feb 3, 2021
INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer has been named general counsel of the Republican National Committee (RNC). In a unanimous vote, the RNC executive committee ratified Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel’s appointment of Hupfer to the post.  As general counsel of the RNC, Huper’s role is to be a strong team member with the RNC officers, assist all RNC committees as they conduct the business of the RNC and work with the chief counsel of the RNC and the internal RNC legal team as they provide guidance and assistance in implementing the RNC’s initiatives.  Hupfer will continue to serve as chairman of the Indiana Republican Party while fulfilling his new role.

“Congratulations to Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer on his unanimous ratification as general counsel of the RNC,” said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. “We look forward to working with Chairman Hupfer as we head into a crucial midterm election in 2022 while working to ensure free and fair elections across the country.”

“I was honored to be asked by Ronna to serve in this role and I enthusiastically accepted.  Ensuring that all Americans can have full faith in future elections is paramount to the future of our Republic.  While there are many legal issues that the RNC will have to address over the next four years, none will be more important than ensuring safe, transparent and consistent elections throughout the country.  I look forward to working with Chairwoman McDaniel and Co-Chairman Hicks and all members of the RNC as we work to take back the US House, Senate and White House.”

Under Hupfer’s leadership, the Indiana Republican Party has achieved an unprecedented level of success for an Indiana political organization. Today, Republicans hold every statewide elected office, supermajorities in both houses of the General Assembly, both U.S. Senate seats, 7 of 9 U.S. House seats, 71 mayoral offices and 88% of all county elected positions.

In addition to serving as Chairman of the Indiana Republican Party, Hupfer is a partner at Taft Law. In 2020, he managed Governor Eric Holcomb’s historic reelection campaign that saw Holcomb earning the most votes in state history for a gubernatorial candidate. In addition to his legal career, Hupfer has extensive public and private sector experience. He’s a former director of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Vice President and General Counsel at ETC ProLiance Energy, and Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel at IMMI.

Hupfer lives with his wife and three children in Pendleton, Indiana. His headshot can be found here.
