INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer released the following statement thanking Congresswoman Susan Brooks for her career of service to Hoosiers after her announcement today that she will retire from the U.S. House of Representatives at the end of her term and not seek a fifth term in Congress:
"Congresswoman Susan Brooks' career is defined by service to Hoosiers. She's always listening and learning, and her astute focus on the issues facing Hoosiers in the 5th District has led her constituents to reelect her by big margins time and again, including by 14 points in 2018.
"Congresswoman Brooks' results are undeniable. She's passed eight bills in the House and has led on major issues including protecting victims of harassment, fighting the drug crisis, supporting mental health for our first responders, modernizing Congress and so much more. And along the way, Congresswoman Brooks has also been an inspiration for women, with more Republican women not just running for office, but winning."
"Thanks to the work of Congresswoman Brooks and the leaders who came before her, the results of decades of Republican leadership in the 5th District will keep this seat solidly in Republican hands.
"Even after she's retired, I'm confident that Hoosiers will long be feeling the impact left by Congresswoman Susan Brooks."
