Statement by Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer
on Start of 2018 Legislative Session
INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana Republican Party Chairman Kyle Hupfer released this statement ahead of today’s launch of the 2018 session of the Indiana General Assembly:
“Thanks to the tireless work of Governor Eric Holcomb, Speaker Brian Bosma, Senate President Pro Tempore David Long and the Republican leaders who have come before them, the 2018 Indiana General Assembly begins in an historic position.
“On the strength of our economy, our state’s finances and our promise to provide great government service, Indiana is setting records year, after year, after year.
“Our economy is booming with more Hoosiers employed than ever before, and a record-setting number of job commitments are poised to add even more high-wage jobs in multiple sectors across the state. On the fiscal front, Indiana continues to be the envy of the nation – with balanced budgets, strong reserves and a AAA credit rating. And in providing great government service, we have implemented a fully-funded, twenty-year infrastructure plan and have been ranked No. 1 for government efficiency in the nation.
“But, as we always say, the work is far from over.
“As our leaders kick-off this new session today, they will continue their work and come together on another set of important issues facing our state. From improving Indiana’s workforce readiness for an evolving global economy to tackling the drug epidemic that is ravaging homes, communities and lives, they have a full plate.
“It takes a great team to accomplish great things, and Hoosiers are fortunate to have this team at the helm. If the past decade of proven and responsible Republican leadership is any indicator, this group is more than up to the task and Indiana’s best is yet to come.”
