Gov. Pence Rejects of EPA Clean Power Plan, Defends Coal Interests

EVANSVILLE, INDIANA — Towards the end of his keynote speech at the Southwest Indiana Chamber’s luncheon Wednesday afternoon, Gov. Mike Pence, R-Indiana, made an annoucement that led to a huge round of applause.
 
“This is a pro-coal state and it will ever be on my watch,” he said.
 
It was an announcement of a counterattack on what Pence is calling a “war against coal” launched by the Environmental Protection Agency and the Obama administration.
 
“Unless these new proposed rules, the so-called Clean Power Plan, is dramatically improved, that the state of Indiana will not comply with these rules when they’re produced this fall,” Pence said.
