Indiana state senator returns from 8-month deployment

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — An Indiana state senator who was deployed to Afghanistan for eight months as a member of the Navy Reserve is back in Indiana.

Republican Sen. Jim Banks of Columbia City returned to Indiana on Tuesday, arriving at Fort Wayne International Airport. His wife, Amanda, who won a caucus meeting to fill his seat during his deployment, was there to welcome him.
