It was Gov. Mike Pence at his best, visiting Shepherd Community Center last week to highlight the intersection of faith and good works.
Shepherd has a 30-year history of helping the homeless, broken families and immigrants.
Casually dressed in blue jeans, a long-sleeved shirt and boots, Pence joined some state employees to honor Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday with volunteer service. He apologized to third-graders for the mud on his pants — he had come from another service event.
