Sen. Dan Coats, R-Ind., is waiting on a war plan from the White House before he will support or oppose the possible deployment of U.S. ground forces for combat in Syria and Iraq.
“I cannot give you a hard no or a hard yes at this particular point in time,” Coats said Friday in a telephone interview.
“I need to see what the president’s plan is before I could just give blanket authorization” to the use of ground combat troops to fight Islamic State soldiers, Coats said.
