The Indiana Attorney General’s Office and Rep. Milo Smith, R-Columbus, are warning that a new tech-support scam is occurring with scammers.
The Federal Trade Commission recently cracked down on scammers who attempt to trick consumers into thinking there is a problem with their computer, but the Indiana Telephone Privacy Division has received 559 complaints about the tech-support phone calls this year.
Once scammers call on the phone, they say they have detected virus activity on your computer. They claim to be from a reputable computer company and insist on remotely accessing your computer.
