Coats, Stutzman reflect on time left
Jun 6, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Dan Coats said members of Congress have three ways to leave Capitol Hill.

“One’s in a box,” Coats said with a smile. “Another is on Election Night, when the public says, ‘We’d like you back home.’ And the third is choosing to leave.”

Coats, R-Ind., and Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd, will exit the Hill after this year, each presumably with a strong pulse. Coats, 73, did not seek re-election, while Stutzman, 39, was called back home, losing his bid for the Republican nomination for Coats’ seat in the Senate to Rep. Todd Young, R-9th.
