The state of Indiana on Thursday awarded more than $30 million in teacher performance grants to 1,300 schools.
Grant recipients include 50 Greater Lafayette schools, who were rewarded for their high-performing teachers.
Gov. Mike Pence’s 2013 recommended budget proposed school performance awards. The awards were signed into law as part of the biennial budget, which allocated $30 million in grants to schools based on proficiency or improvement for only fiscal year 2015.
The grants must be distributed by Friday.
