S'ville man named treasurer for Indiana Republican Party

Former state Rep. Dan Dumezich was named the new treasurer for the Indiana Republican Party.

The appointment was announced Tuesday along with new appointments to several other positions within the party.

According to a news release, Dumezich, of Schererville, was credited for having a long political resume and "fundraising prowess."

Dumezich, who is a Chicago attorney, hosted several major fundraising events for the state and national Republican Party during the 2012 campaign season. In June 2012, Dumezich and his wife, Dana, hosted a fundraising event that included Mitt Romney's brother, Scott Romney.
