State, federal officials cautiously optimistic on HIP 2.0

There was one burning question in the room Tuesday at a lunch panel featuring the head of Indiana Medicaid and a Health and Human Services official: What’s happening with HIP 2.0, Gov. Mike Pence’s proposed Medicaid alternative?

No one could give a definitive answer as to whether the federal government will approve the state’s plan to expand the Healthy Indiana Plan. But representatives from both agencies issued cautiously optimistic assessments of the plan’s chance of winning the nod.
