A Quick Q&A
If elected, what will be your top priority?
My first priority is restoring public safety to Richmond. Everyone should feel safe anywhere in Richmond. I will work alongside our police and neighborhood associations to restore community policing. And we will work to restore honor and respect to our fine men and women who wear the badge everyday. Richmond's best deserve our best!
What do you want the city to look like a decade from now?
Ten years from now, nobody will realize that going into the 2023 election, our downtown business district was mostly abandoned. We will restore the vibrancy our downtown used to have with shops, restaurants, event centers, and more. On the Richmond City Council, I have supported AirBnB-type rentals in our central business district, and plan to enourage them and owner-occupied apartments both downtown and in our Depot District. We will bring more people to those areas and drive demand for our busineses.
How do you plan to get citizens involved in the decision-making process?
As mayor, I will re-open city hall and will listen to everyone, even those who disagree with me, and establish a Community Advisory Council comprised of leaders from all areas of our city. I believe that Richmond has many leaders who deserve to be heard by city hall again. Working together, we can make our Richmond a better place to live and work — a city where our children want to return to live and work after college.
