Coats: Cyber Legislation a Step in Right Direction

WASHINGTON, DC – Senator Dan Coats (R-Ind.) today made the following statement after the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence approved the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act, a bill to improve our nation’s cybersecurity:

“Threats to our nation’s cybersecurity are a significant challenge that must be addressed. This legislation allows companies and government entities to share critical information on cyber threats. Threats evolve over time so we must evolve our response to effectively fight different battles. While not perfect, this legislation is a tailored, meaningful step in the right direction drafted with a keen awareness that we operate in a world that values privacy as much as safety.”
