Hoosiers in Congress push health law change

TERRE HAUTE — The U.S. House of Representatives is expected to vote today on a bill that would repeal the 30-hour definition of full-time employment in the Affordable Care Act and restore the traditional 40-hour definition.

The House on Wednesday debated HR 2575, the Save American Workers Act. Among those speaking in favor was Dr. Larry Bucshon, a Republican and 8th District Indiana congressman.

If it became law, such a bill would be a good thing for many Wabash Valley public school districts, which have cut back hours of classified staff to less than 30 hours for economic reasons, said Charles Rubright, an attorney with Bose, McKinney and Evans in Indianapolis.
