New Indiana law aims to cut outdated red tape

Indianapolis — House Republicans are trumpeting a bill they say will cut red tape in state government and improve Indiana's business climate.

Rep. Jud McMillin of Brookville says the language in Indiana's state code has nearly doubled in size since 1976. He said Monday the new law ends outdated measures going back as far as the 1960s.

In one case, the new law strikes a nearly 50-year-old requirement that businesses inform county clerks when they're having "going out of business" sales.
