Sidestepping Obamacare, Indiana finds new way to close coverage gap

Indiana is coming up with a way to close the “coverage gap” for those just above the poverty level who are ineligible for subsidies under the Affordable Care Act.

The conservative Midwest state has refused to set up its own Obamacare exchange and says it won’t expand its Medicaid program. So, Indiana has come up with a way of assisting those between 100% and 138% of the federal poverty level — the group that was the object of Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion.
