Young’s bill gets first bipartisan support

U.S. Rep. Todd Young’s Save American Workers Act has gotten several things in the past few weeks. Support from several businesses and business groups. Media attention. A hearing in the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means. A markup from that same committee, and a passage. But now it has something it didn’t before: formal Democratic support.

Dan Lipinski, a Democratic representative from Illinois’ 3rd District, will merge his bill, the Forty Hours is Full Time Act, with Young’s bill. Both bills were introduced over the summer. Democratic representatives Jim Matheson of Utah’s 4th District, Collin Peterson of Minnesota’s 7th District and Kurt Schrader of Oregon’s 5th District.
